While an historical account of the causes of the Japanese-American internment during World War II has slowly been recorded, the psychological effects on the internees and their progeny had received little attention until the 1987 Sansei research project. This book is an exhaustive account of the project, which employed a cross-generational approach to evaluate patterns of communication, identity, and other topics within changing historical contexts.
